Dr. J. Karyl Ting, MD

By joining the medical staff at Rangely District Hospital, Dr. Ting feels she has come full circle. After completing her B.S. at the University of Arizona, her M.D. at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, an internal medicine internship at Ohio State University Hospital and a family medicine residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center, she intended to begin practice in rural Colorado. Instead, circumstances took her to the Denver metro area where she practiced full spectrum family medicine for almost 30 years, including several years of OB and emergency medicine.

While medical practice and patient care always came first, Dr. Ting has participated in medicine at many levels, including administration and teaching. She is an assistant clinical professor in family medicine at the University of Colorado, maintains her family medicine board certification and still loves to learn new things.

When her husband accepted a position in Moab, she knew it was time to move on, reluctantly leaving her patients and colleagues in Denver. Now, as she says, "I live in Rangely every other week." She shares a position with Dr. Mercedes Cameron and is excited to start a new challenge. After many years of travelling abroad with her husband, she now looks forward to exploring her new home in western Colorado and southeastern Utah.

Dr. Brenda Hinton

Rangely District Hospital Physician - Dr Brenda Hinton

Dr. Brenda Hinton moved to Rangely from Anchorage, Alaska.  She enjoyed the experience of living in Alaska, but decided that she didn’t want to “live” there.  She has lived in several places, including Japan, Virginia, and California.  Born in El Paso, Texas, and having spent most of her life there, she’s a bit closer to home now.

Dr. Hinton is the very proud mother of four children.   Dr. Hinton’s children are her most important accomplishment.  Without their support and sacrifices, she could have never gone through the rigors of medical school.

Dr. Hinton loves to shop, which is a little bit funny.  She says living in Rangely will definitely help her give more attention to her savings…but there is always the Internet!  She loves to read (non-medical) books, watch movies or TV with her two girls, and relax with a good cup of coffee.  She has been able to see the Black Canyon area and recently went for a drive to Glenwood Springs.  Asked if she liked to hunt or fish and without any hesitation, said a resounding, “NO!”   Dr. Hinton also has a wonderful sense of humor, which will serve her well living in Rangely.

Dr. Chris M. Adams, DO

Dr. Adams comes to Rangely District Hospital as a fulfillment of his goal, since childhood, to be a small town/rural area family and ER doctor. Dr. Adams completed his B.S. at Mercyhurst College in Erie, PA, D.O. at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, MO (the founding school of osteopathic medicine), surgical internship at Tripier Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, and his family medicine residency at Millcreek Community Hospital in Erie, PA. where he then set up and ran his own practice from 2002 to 2009. Although his desire was to be practicing in a small town rural area, circumstances would not allow it, until recently.

Dr. Adams travelled around the world many times over in his years in the U.S. Army but never really felt like anyone place was truly "home" until he came to Rangely. Now he has settled down here to enjoy the abundance of outdoor activities that include hunting, fishing, and hiking and is striving to provide good, full-time and consistent needed medical care to the citizens of Rangely, Rio Blanco county and the surrounding areas. He is a full time Physician for Rangely Family Medicine and Rangely District Hospital.
