Pre-requisites / requirementsTo enter an the Rangely District Hospital EMT training program, applicants will need to have a high school diploma or equivalent by the time the class is completed. This is a non-degree course that is being taught and hosted by RDH. The applicant/student will need to be older than 18, at least by the time the class is ¾ completed so they can complete clinicals and obtain a Colorado certification from their national certification. The course requires a CPR certification as a pre-requisite, however, the program has instituted the BLS provider course into the program as part of the class. The applicant/student will be required to obtain a background check and drug screening, proof of personal health insurance, and vaccine history for your clinical rotations.
EMT DescriptionEmergency medical technicians (EMTs) respond to medical and trauma emergencies and deliver patient care, support, and evaluation in a pre-hospital setting, like on scene and during transport to the hospital. This generally includes assessing the patient, determining the proper emergency care, and administering treatment., lifting, moving and calming patients in their time of need. The EMT will be required to remain calm in a stressful situations, critically think, keep safety of themselves, the team and the patients as a high priority at all times and keep information told and / or observed confidential.
Upon successful completion of the EMT Basic Class, EMT students will be able to sit for their national exams.
Required shots for clinical rotations:PPD (Tuberculosis), MMR (Measles, Mumps and Rubella), Varicella (chicken pox/shingles) Hepatitis B, Flu shot and TDap. (I do not know if SMH will require the COVID vaccine at this time)

When:Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with possibly one Saturday per month (Saturdays TBD)
Pre-start date February 15th - completion of required paperwork, review Job description, class requirements, etc... Students need to bring their most current up to date shot record to class, see above for required shots.

Background check - (required for Clinicals) - $39.00 ( this is what it is at this time, could change if we get charged more)
