The Radiology Department at Rangely District Hospital currently offers digital radiography. Our services include standard imaging, trauma, ultrasound, MRI, vascular studies, ECHO cardiograms, and bone densities. We are an ACR Accredited Mammography Facility. All our staff members are certified technologists to serve the community with the highest possible standards. The radiology department has continued to grow and expand the past two years. Our new Cat Scan machine is up and running, and we also offer a mobile MRI machine.

* ACR is the America College of Radiology, a federal governing agent with strict and precise guidelines monitoring procedure, technique, and film quality standards in mammography. Its guidelines also preside over technologist qualifications, continuing education, as well as the radiologist interpreting the mammography images.

* ARRT is the American Registry of Registered Technologists. It is the national testing and licensure organization for a wide range of radiographic modalities. Click Here to view the official national ARRT web site.

Services Available

Digital Radiography

Digital Radiology is an accurate and filmless process. X-rays are taken onto digital plates, and then extracted from the plates by a computer, where it can then be viewed on a computer screen. The digital images can then be instantly available to local physicians as well as another facilities, such as Saint Mary’s Hospital, Community Hospital, and other specialty physicians.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a test that uses reflected sound waves to produce an image of organs and other structures in the body. It does not use X-rays or other types of possibly harmful radiation.

For ultrasound testing, gel or oil is applied to the skin to help transmit the sound waves. A small, handheld instrument called a transducer is passed back and forth over the area of the body being examined. A computer analyzes the sound waves and converts them into a picture that is displayed on a monitor.

Mobile MRI

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to provide pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI provides information that cannot be obtained from an X-ray, ultrasound, or CT scan.

Mammography

Mammography is a specific type of imaging that uses a low-dose x-ray system for the examination of breasts. A mammography exam, called a mammogram, is used as a screening tool to detect early breast cancer in women experiencing no symptoms and to detect and diagnose breast disease in women experiencing symptoms such as a lump, pain or nipple discharge.

CAT Scan

Computed Tomography (CT) is a method of body imaging in which a thin X-ray beam rotates around the patient. Small detectors measure the amount of X-rays that make it through the patient or particular area of interest.

A computer analyzes the data to construct a cross-sectional image. These images can be stored, viewed on a monitor, or printed on film. In addition, three-dimensional models of organs can be created by stacking the individual images, or "slices."
