Rangely District Hospital has an opening in the Operating Room for a Surgical Scrub Tech. This is a casual/PRN position working 1-2 days per month. Preference will be given to Certified Surgical Scrub Technicians.

Job Summary:

This position supports the surgical team by serving as the scrub tech, handling instruments, supplies, and equipment during surgical procedures. The scrub tech maintains constant vigilance for the maintenance of the sterile field and assists with maintaining equipment and instruments.

• Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies.
• Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments. Assists with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Passes instruments to physician during surgery. Continually accounts for number and location of instruments and supplies during surgery.
• Receives and processes specimens for delivery to the laboratory.
• This position requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement, and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action as needed.

Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and move patients or equipment when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) through the American Heart Association with card in-hand before start date.
• One year of experience in a surgical setting preferred.
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician program preferred.
• State Surgical Assistant or Surgical Technologist registration required unless performing Surgical Tech functions within the scope of another verified Colorado license, certification or registration.

Additional Information:

Position Type: PRN (1 – 2 days per month)

Shift: Days (no on-call)

Hourly Wage Range: $19.46 – $28.80 based on education and experience.

Mileage: Round-trip mileage reimbursement at federal rate.

Benefits: up to 48 hours of sick pay. Rec center pass.
